*Beware of the 'Damaged-Goods' Mentality- women who settle for bozo's don't think they deserve the man of their dreams. Know what you deserve and don't settle for anything less.
*Beware of Being a Bozo Magnet- Women who are bozo bait have generally low standards of purity and passion for God, they attract men who are equally distracted. A bozo magnet is an extreme version of bozo bait, they have so abandoned their ideals that they actually look for and attract only bozos-these women even set up long term relationships with bozos. When women lower their standards, men assume that being a bozo isn't so bad, because there are no negative consequences for their behavior.
*Beware of Letting Sex Blur Your Vision- sex blurs the heart's vision, keeping a woman from clearly seeing the bozo qualities in the guy she is dating
*Beware of Cheering on the Bozo Tribe- by: Watching what you wear/how you present yourself "if what you are showing ain't on the menu- keep it covered up"
Quote from a guy in the book: " ...when a girl dressed like a hooker it doesn't matter what comes out of her mouth..she has already told me all I want to know about her. The way girls dress-the more skin a guy sees- the less he is thinking about her as a person and the more she becomes an object. Guys have a one track mine- how women dress determines the track we get on. We're either on the get-to-know-you-as-a-person track or get-to know-your-body track"be considerate of then man who is honestly trying to develop self-control, and understand that it begins with his eyes. Don't share to intimately- a bozo will take advantage of this. Maintain your manners. Just say No, have self-control.
*Beware of Our culture's bozo Dating Standards- be grounded in the Truth and not hollywood fantasies
*Be Kind to Your Heart- "Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of Life".
Guard Your Heart From:
- Fantasies: a bozo will let you love him as much as you want without ever returning the affection.
-Lack of Boule (good decision making)- to date a bozo a girl must be ingnoring the good advice from family and friends. You need friends who will tell you the truth- who will shoot "boule-arrows" into your heart.
-Commitment-phobic: they will ultimately reject anything that threatens their selfish lifestyles- If you find in your relationship that you are the one doing all the giving, compromising and sacrificing- you've found a Bozo.
-The "cult of quick"- sometimes when a woman has been single for a long time her impatience can wear down the battery on her bozo-alert. her alarm won't sound when she starts dating a bozo even though her friends can clearly see the bozo characteristics. wanting things in an instant results in a compromise of character
-Taking someone else's Boaz- just because he is a Boaz, doesn't mean he is your Boaz.
-----------------------------
I am now finished with the book. (yay) I really enjoyed reading it, it was eye opening and I can pinpoint other people around me that need to hear the things in this book (or hopefully at least read my blog entries about it: here and here ).
It definitely makes me think about what I want for my own life, and the lives of my friends. I know what I deserve and how they deserve to be treated. Is it my part of my responsibility-as a good friend- to help them see what they should be waiting for; that waiting now will reward them immeasurably down the road? I guess this is one reason I chose to blog about this book- not just for myself, but so that you, whoever you are, can take something away from this book about your own lives, or know someone who would benefit from this advice.
