Jani's Story

Anyone watch Oprah today? If you didn't..watch this video:

How crazy? this little girl, with schizophrenia taking over her mind. She has been showing signs of schizophrenia since she was a baby, they noticed she would be staring off at something that didn't seem to be there. As she got older she has "imaginary friends", a mouse named Wednesday, a cat named 400 and other animals.. They apparently would tell her things to do, this is when her parents knew something was seriously wrong- she became violent to keep Wednesday and 400 happy so they wouldn't hurt her. She is currently on the most powerful medications available for adults with schizophrenia, its not a cure- it just helps to suppress the psychosis.

Her parents are amazing.. I can't imagine being in their shoes. They have two apartments in the same complex- one for Jani and one for their younger son, to keep everyone safe. They rotate every day with who is in charge of each kid- they have a rule that one of them can't be alone with both of the kids at any point.
Can you imagine the toll this takes on a person- on a marriage? Both parents are on antidepressants and have hit rock bottom- but they step up to the plate and do what they have to do to give their children the best quality of life they know how.

"God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called."
